The Palm Springs Grass Court Tournament is less than 1 month away. We’re excited to host you all again on the pristine courts at Mission Hills. Are you ready for grass court tennis?

 

While you make your final plans to come join us in the desert, please read the following announcements carefully.

 

The withdrawal deadline is less than 1 week away (Mon April 15th). After this date, you will not receive a refund, for any reason. Please check the event, double check that you are in the correct level. Check that you have the correct partner. If you’d like to withdraw, let us know before Monday. As a reminder, if you are on the reserve list, you are not yet in the singles main draw. Currently all singles draws have 15 players with a reserve list of players hoping to get the final spot or any spot vacated by a withdrawal. We have been holding 1 spot, in the main draw, for one player in case of ranking changes. This has already occurred in the C draw, and we are now at 16 players. If you’re top of the reserve list in any of the singles events, there’s a chance we might add you into the main draw. If we can, we’ll let you know. We will not be expanding beyond 16 players.

 

If you are on the reserve list and do not make it into the main draw and wish to withdraw after the deadline due to lack of availability, you will be refunded.

 

Some of you are unpaired because your doubles partner, indicated on your registration, has still not yet signed up. Let them know to sign up ASAP. Or let us know if you need a doubles partner.

MHCC is a private country club with some of the best grass courts in the entire country. As usual, we highly recommend wearing white outfits, in keeping with Wimbledon tradition and for keeping cool. No cut off t-shirts, no tank tops, and no tennis shoes with spikes allowed on the grass courts. Keep in mind it can get brutally hot during the tournament, so please hydrate and bring drinks that contain lots of electrolytes. Ice and water will be provided at the site. Unfortunately we can’t bring in food due to club policies however there is a cafe at the tennis club house. We will have a few snacks at the check-in desk which will be located by the grass courts.  Please park in the lot near the grass courts.

Match Format:
All singles and doubles draws will be best 2 out of 3 sets with a super 10 point tie-breaker played in lieu of the 3rd set (first to 10 points by a margin of two). 

Warm ups are limited to 5 minutes maximum and will be strictly enforced.  

 

Due to the limited number of grass courts and lack of lights, we will not offer consolation on grass. Consolation will instead be held at Mission Hills on the hard courts.

 

Mission Hills is a members only club. Unfortunately, you are not able to book courts on your own, unless you are a member. If you’d like to practice on the grass courts on Wednesday May 1st from 2 – 6pm, please email Nabil at nabilinla@aol.com. He can reserve them for you and confirm your desired time slot. This is available on a first come first served basis. It’ll be $20 per person. He can help arrange the payment.
